Character Name:Aezrial
Class:Priest
Primary Spec:Holy. Offspec is Discipline. I was originally a shadow priest, so I am familiar with that role as well, but healing is what I love to do.

Tell us about your last guild(s) and the history with why are you choosing us over them:I am originally from Steamwheedle Cartel. There, I was a member of a couple smaller guilds while levelling and the like. I later joined a guild named Pantheon. They are the number one raiding guild on the server.
I left Pantheon because their views no longer matched my own. While this may seem a little underhanded, please let me explain. When I joined Pantheon, everyone was focused on progression. They had the drive to succeed, and we did well. We worked through Sunwell, managing to down M'uru before the 3.0 patch made the place so easy. Sadly, we did not obtain a Kil'Jaeden kill before that point, but we did get quite a bit of work in on him, coming close (we felt) to a kill. Going into Wrath, much was the same. However, it seemed that Naxxramas took the fire out of most. We lost a few of our more central people, and when Ulduar came out, we just didn't push as hard as we used to. The drive seemed gone.
After leaving Pantheon, I transfered to Ysera. Here, I joined Contrast, who's idea was to do exactly what I found lacking in Pantheon. Initially, the drive was great. We progressed quickly through Ulduar, and then it seemed to have shut down. The leadership began voicing things like "Let's just easy mode this" after as few as two attempts into a boss (not all of them, by any means, but it was still there). Further, the guild began having serious attendance issues, making any kind of progression much harder than it needed to be.
Without going into compounding details, this is why I left Contrast.
I choose Midwinter over all of these because you have the drive I seek in fellow guild members, without having the overbearing egos normally associated with the success this has brought you. I have had nothing but good experiences with any of the members with which I have had interactions.
Tell us how you play your class, and how it makes you stand apart from others:As a healer, this is a tough question to answer. How I play mainly depends on the fight and what happens during it. However, there are a few staples I try to achieve.
Prayer of Mending is kept on cool-down as much as possible. I use Flash Heal as my primary single target heal in most situations, using binding heal when I need healing as well.
As holy, I try to keep Serendipity stacked to three charges when not needed. Upon raid damage, normally I use Prayer of Healing on ranged groups, Circle of Healing on the melee. This changes, of course, if there are assigned groups to heal, or if there is an immediate need for quick healing in a certain area. The biggest example I can think of for this would be during Freya+3, after Ground Tremor, if anyone is rooted or has Nature's Fury, they will need immediate healing. The biggest thing I try to do is keep an eye on predictable incoming damage, and have a heal already going, if possible. All of this, of course, can change depending on the fight.
As discipline, I keep Weakened Soul on my assigned tank or targets as much as possible. Penance when it is available, and flash heal as fillers. If I have extra global cool-downs, I try to put Power Word: Shield on others. I normally prioritize mana users, if they will be taking damage, simply to give them the mana return upon the shield breaking. In some fights, I am assigned to shield the raid to help provide a needed buffer from raid damage. General Vezax, for instance, I use the Shadow Crash buff to shield as much of the raid as I can. For this, I prioritize groups which do not have a shadow priest, since normally there are just too many for me to effectively keep shields on them all.
As either spec, I have my cool-downs ready to be used when needed. Guardian Spirit, Pain Suppression, Power Infusion, and Divine Hymn, as applicable.
The main thing, in my opinion, that makes a healer stand-out from the rest is the ability to know when to never sway from your assignment, and when to break it and help another healer. Fights can change, and the healers role is a reactive one. I don't feel these reactions can be put into words, especially not easily, but I feel I do a very good job of this.
What do you have bound to your 1-5 keys?1- Renew
2- Prayer of Mending
3- Power Word: Shield
4- Dispel Magic/Cure Disease
5- Holy Nova (Hey, it has its uses at times)
Other spells bound to other keys, of course.
Tell us about yourself. Show us the man/woman behind the character. And impress us, make us laugh. Convince us we want you in our guild. If you don't take the time to sell yourself, there's no reason for us to want to take you. We've worked hard to make this a great place to raid and demand incoming candidates prove they're committed to continuing that. My name is Scott. I am 25 years old. I am currently a student pursuing a degree (PhD, eventually) in Physics, focus in research, secondary major is pre-med. I currently work as a soft condensed matter experimentalist, performing Brewster Angle microscopy and analysis, mainly.
I was in the U.S. Army for six years, doing Military Intelligence work, before deciding to finish my degree. I was also a firefighter at one point.
I was born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKEYES! And now the Michigan fans say no to my app...), but have lived in several different states, and been to many different countries.
I have played this game since it's release; although, I did take a long break after the Gates of Ahn Qiraj opened. I began again at the beginning of Burning Crusade. In classic, I played a mage. I switched to a priest when I began playing again in BC, and have done so ever since.
For fun, I practice martial arts, watch movies, the Daily Show, The Colbert Report, read, and raid, mainly. When my brother moves back up here (we go to the same school), I'll be adding basketball and gym work back into the mix, as well.
As far as my personality, I always have trouble describing it. I'm a private person, in a lot of ways, but not obnoxiously so. I like to have fun and joke around, but I know when it's time to get down to business. Beyond that, I must say, I'm at a loss for what to say about this portion.
The only thing I would really like to add to my application is that I play to raid. As such, I put what I have into it. I come prepared, I do research on changes in my class, and I attend as much as possible (nearly 100% raid attendance. I missed one week this summer due to vacation, and I think only one other day in recent memory).
I know it says to make you laugh, but I am very bad at that through text.
Thank you for taking the time to read my application.
