I am Rolecks/Elephantshoe in the logs above.

Do you have an authenticator? Yes

Tell us about your last guild(s) and the history with why are you choosing us over them:
The last guild I was in (EndGame on Kil'Jaeden) recently fell apart with the GL and 3 of his real-life friends leaving the guild. We were a solid group, having recently downed festergut, rotface and blood council on 25 man. We went through a number of 5% wipes on Putricide up until the guild collapsed.

I am choosing your guild because you have the progression in ICC that I'm looking for and also you're actually looking for Death Knights!

Tell us how you play your class, and how it makes you stand apart from others:
Being able to fully balance talent, gear and ability procs to maximize stats to push out the maximum damage from abilities is what separates a good DK from a great one, or even DPSer's in general. I'll try to list out some general scenarios of what I mean so you can understand how I'm using my abilities to the fullest:

  • Using my ui to notify me when my gear/talents proc let's me know when my AP is at it's highest so I can use a Potion of Speed and summon my Gargoyle. I use Fortexorcist to tell both the duration of all my diseased targets, my talent stat buff procs, and my gear procs like 2pcT9, Sigil, trinkets, ring so I know when I'm at my most buffed.
  • I'm well skilled in my DoT control in maintaining diseases on all targets, especially the main boss. This can be done by using Pestilence in key moments such as right before switching to the bone spikes on Marrowgar, maintaining Ebon Plague on the boss when you can on Deathwhisper for the ranged on the mana shield, hitting Pestilence on outgoing Blood beasts on Saurfang helps to add that magic debuff to them for the ranged without getting unnecessary aggro.
  • I utilize Anti-Magic shield to it's fullest to gain as much RP as possible without putting strain on the healers. This allows me to get extra Death Coils in which leads to more dmg on the boss. This also saves me from having to move especially on certain novas like on Emalon for instance, this means more time dps'ing the boss.
  • I maximize my gear by stats, not by ilvl. I'm not gonna lie, I love new gear as much as the next guy, but I know when to shelve a piece for later instead of breaking either a set bonus or a stat equilibrium. Such was the case back in ToC with my T9 4pc, I obtained 2 pieces of 258 (non-tier) but could only wear 1 so I wouldn't break the beastly T9 4pc bonus (back then). I take the time to sim my current gear/stats to see what my highest theoretical DPS can be in different gear sets. Of course nothing beats actual raiding and going over real logs, but it helps in deciding which gear to use.

What do you have bound to your 1-5 keys?
I use 2 action bars for my 1-5 keys. I hit 'q' to switch between them so I use the number keys for 2 sets of abilities.
Main:
1: Icy Touch macro (Icy Touch + /petattack)
2: Plague Strike
3: Blood Strike
4: Scourge Strike
5: Death Coil
Alternate ('q'):
1: Anti-Magic Shield
2: Gargoyle
3: Chains mouseover macro
4: Death Strike (emergency)
5: Every Man for Himself

Tell us about yourself. Show us the man/woman behind the character. And impress us, make us laugh. Convince us we want you in our guild. If you don't take the time to sell yourself, there's no reason for us to want to take you. We've worked hard to make this a great place to raid and demand incoming candidates prove they're committed to continuing that.

I'm Sean, a 26 year old Contract Programmer who works from home. I live on the west coast, but I work EST hours so I'm up early and then done with work early in the day. I've been playing wow for about 2 years now, of course only been raiding on my DK for WotLK content. I really want to be able to kill that bastard Arthas, and I know I'm gonna need at least 24 other people to do so.

As I am not currently on your realm, either reply or email to let me know if you'd like me to either make a quick toon or hop on vent or whatever if you'd like further info!

Thanks for reading this through and for your consideration!

Elephantshoe/Sean

WotLK content:
Uld10 HM: Knock x3, Lose Your Illusion (Thorim), Hodir, Steelbreaker, Heartbreaker, Orbit-uary
Uld25 HM: 3-Lights, Hodir, XT, Orbit-uary, Molgeim
ToC10: Cleared
ToGC10: Skill
ToC25: Cleared
ToGC25: 4/5 with multiple, multiple, multiple, soul-shattering attempts and 5% wipes. Probably easier by now in terms of higher DPS, but haven't been back to anub in a bit.

Nicely written app.

Parses in the high 7k range on Saurfang and Festergut seem a little low for your gear level. Any reasons for that you'd like to share? I couldn't find too many other actual boss kills in your WoL to look at.

I'll admit I was lagging behind the other two DKs in the Saurfang fight here: http://worldoflogs.com/reports/iqkoqnsc ... 516&e=1880

I reviewed this log the day after to see what the difference was between me and Lyuun, who was the top DK in the parse.

I compared my log to 'Lyuun' since his # of abilities/attacks more closely matches my own. His Scourge Strike count matches mine but he does more than 100,000 more dmg than I do with that ability over the course of the fight. Our buffs look about the same as well. The only thing different here is that he does have a vastly superior weapon in Shadow's Edge than my normal-mode Justicebringer. I feel like I'm copping out using a gear excuse but he has about 100str/300AP/40weapon dps unbuffed on me from that and his boots. My passive ARP is also not as high as his which doesn't help the output of SS. I do have the NES trinket (not a lot of luck in drops for Death's Choice/Deathbringer's Will) but it's uptime is fairly poor compared to Greatness not to mention the proc itself isn't as good as Greatness. I do have a nobles deck in my bag at the moment and I am waiting for the next faire to test that while I wait for a DC/DW to drop.

If you are looking at other Saurfang parses check to see if I'm on Chains-of-Ice duty which is usually the sign that I'm in a fail pug. That gimps my dps pretty bad burning frost runes on CoI for ranged.

As for the Festergut log the 2nd time I got hit with the spore I had to move out to the ranged since we got 2 in melee range. We were using a 3 group strat and I spent time not on the boss except for a few Death Coils tossed perhaps. You can see the lowered amount of SS attacks on the boss due to me moving if you compare me again to Lyuun.

Nearly all of your WoL parses your on the low end I realize some of them have better gear but you just aren't using as many abilities as them which is troubling. Your gear isn't at the level it needs to be at to support reaping. That being said even tho you are using 2 piece T10 I really don't understand why you aren't using 2 piece T9 because the bonus' out way your 2 pieces of 258 gear. Also you could squeeze more dps out of your gear by changing 3 of your gems around.

I shifted to a Reaping-based Unholy build after I found myself at a point where 17/0/54 was starting to wear off in it's usefulness compared to breaking T9 4pc for 2pc T10/2pcT9 and shifting to 14/0/57. My scourge strikes are at a point where they are strong enough to out dps Blood Strike x2 while making up from the loss of crit from taking points from Dark Conviction into Reaping. I have seen this in sims (Kahorie's DK sim) as well as in logs. I figured since I was getting the same amount of dps I might as well switch over to Reaping and get used to the extra Scourge Strikes in the rotation. I understand I'm going to need a ICC level weapon for the Reaping spec to really start to shine.

The reason I was wearing the 258 non-tier legs was that I was testing out the possibility of breaking the T9 2pc for the static str increase of the 258 legs. I had run both gear configs in the sim multiple times. Each time I saw an overall dps boost of 200-300dps by breaking t9.

However sims are sims, and after seeing the impressive uptime of the Unholy Might proc from the past logs from the other DK who had 2pc t9 intact, I'm going to have to agree that keeping my 2pc T9 will be more beneficial.

As for the gems are you referring to my meta? That's another thing I was still toying with when deciding on the legs since my gemming options would change. I can throw the crit meta in my helm instead as I know its better than the agi as long as you can gem the blue in a good spot.

Thanks for the feedback so far.

Even by the logic that your chest and legs are more dps than the 2 piece T9 bonus you could craft the ToC craftable chest and the ICC legs and still increase your dps by dropping a little gold.

We're going to decline here. We've taken on a few trials and we're going to see how they pan out.

Best of luck finding a guild.
